Feyenoord Preview: Workers of Rotterdam
Feyenoord came through a UEFA Champions League knockout playoff round tie against AC Milan, defeating the seven-time European champions by two goals to one on aggregate with a 1-1 draw in the second-leg between the two sides at San Siro.
Brian Priske was let go before that tie and they have now finally made the permanent appointment of the aforementioned Van Persie. He began his Feyenoord reign with a fairly underwhelming goalless draw against NEC Nijmegen at De Kuip at the weekend.
Inter Milan Preview: Frustration in the title race
Simone Inzaghi’s Internazionale are defending Italian champions and do remain at the top-of-the-table in Serie A but the Nerazzurri were pegged back from extending their lead with Philip Billing scoring a late equaliser for Napoli against Inter in Naples the other day.
Inter have moved into the semi-finals of the Coppa Italia with a 2-0 defeat of Lazio in the semi-finals of the cup last week. They haven’t quite been as fluent as they were last season as they dominated the Italian championship but fell short in the two cup competitions.
Feyenoord Team News: Injury crisis
Van Persie is having to deal with something of a major injury crisis at De Kuip for his first European tie in charge. Goalkeeper Justin Biljow is sidelined alongside Austria international defender Gernot Trauner as well as club captain Quentin Timber and key attackers Calvin Stengs and Ayase Ueda.
Predicted XI (4-3-3): Wellenreuther; Mitchell, Beelen, Hancko, Bueno; Hadj Moussa, Ivanusec, Smal; Osman, Carranza, Paixao
Unavailable: Biljow (Injured), Trauner (Injured), Nieuwkoop (Injured), Gonzalez (Injured), Moder (Injured), Timber (Injured), Read (Suspended), Milambo (Injured), Gonzalez (Injured), Hwang (Injured), Zerrouki (Injured), Stengs (Injured), Ueda (Injured)

Inter Milan Team News: Defensive issues
First-choice goalkeeper Yann Sommer was expected too be sidelined for this clash but he is now a part of the squad, expected to wear some protection on a thumb he fractured in February. Hakan Calhanoglu was also a major doubt but trained on Monday and is also now expected to be available for the Nerazzurri.
Predicted XI (3-5-2): Sommer; Pavard, Acerbi, Bastoni; Dumfries, Barella, Calhanoglu, Mkhitaryan, Bisseck; L. Martinez, Thuram
Unavailable: Darmian (Injured), Dimarco (Injured), Zalewski (Injured), Augusto (Injured)

Feyenoord vs Inter Milan Prediction
Feyenoord come into this on the back of an indifferent first performance under the management of Van Persie and there would be a reasonable concern that the spirit and togetherness shown in the defeat of Inter’s rivals AC Milan may well have been lost as they try to build for something that will be more sustainable. With that in mind, a lack of fluency and cohesion in attack is to be expected and backing Inzaghi’s men to therefore grind out a result would appear a good bet in the Dutch second city, especially with how many issues the hosts are dealing with.
