Feyenoord Preview: The workers of Rotterdam

After winning the Czech First League with Sparta Prague last season, Brian Priske took charge of Feyenoord to replace Liverpool-bound Arne Slot. Feyenoord have underwhelmed domestically, though, as they sit fifth in the Eredivisie, too.

They were also beaten 2-0 by PSV Eindhoven in the quarter-finals of the KNVB Cup last week. In the UEFA Champions League, they have enjoyed some famous wins such as their 3-0 demolition of Bayern Munich in the Netherlands last month.

AC Milan Preview: Conceicao’s Rossoneri

Former Porto manager Sergio Conceicao took charge of AC Milan at the start of this year and his tenure began with Milan by winning the Supercoppa Italiana, coming from behind to defeat both Juventus and Internazionale in the semi-finals and the final respectively.

The Rossoneri come into this one on the back of a 2-0 victory over Empoli in a game in which both sides were down to ten men before strikes from Rafael Leao and Santiago Gimenez. They have suffered two defeats in 11 matches across all competitions since Conceicao’s arrival.

Feyenoord Team News: A few issues

Feyenoord have a few injury issues ahead of the visit of Milan as goalkeeper Justin Biljow is sidelined alongside Switzerland international Jordan Lotomba and Netherlands international Calvin Stengs, whilst Austria international defender Gernot Trauner is a doubt, too.

Predicted XI (4-3-3): Wellenreuther; Nieuwkoop, Trauner, Hancko, Smal; Milambo, Beelen, Timber; Hadj Moussa, Carranza, Paixao

Unavailable: Biljow (Injured), Lotomba (Injured), Stengs (Injured)

Questionable: Trauner (Injured), Kasanwirjo (Injured), Zerrouki (Injured)

AC Milan Team News: Changes in Milan

AC Milan brought in several players during the winter window, such as Kyle Walker and Joao Felix, who have been included in their squad for the UEFA Champions League. United States international midfielder Yunus Musah is missing through suspension for this one.

Predicted XI (4-2-3-1): Maignan; Walker, Thiaw, Pavlovic, Hernandez; Reijnders, Fofana; Pulisic, Felix, Leao; Abraham

Unavailable: Florenzi (Injured), Loftus-Cheek (Injured), Musah (Suspended)

Questionable: Emerson (Injured), Bondo (Injured)

Feyenoord vs AC Milan Prediction

A key thing to note ahead of this one would also be that the aforementioned Santiago Gimenez, Feyenoord’s key man up-front, has since departed for AC Milan and scored his first goal for the Rossoneri at the weekend. Due to midfield absentees, Milan are likely going to have to play a more adventurous eleven. That should make it quite entertaining with Feyenoord playing a hostile and aggressive, front foot style of their own, especially with home advantage. This first-leg has the potential to be entertaining for the neutral with both teams scoring looking a good bet for this one.
