Fernando Padilla: Mexican scrapper looking for stoppage
Fernando Padilla (16-5) is coming into this fight offer submission victory last time out and that win over Luis Pajuelo was a nice way to rebound after losing his previous fight. He has now had three fights under the UFC banner and he has won two of those stopping both opponents. The 27-year-old has now racked up 16 MMA victories and only two of those have gone to the scorecards. The Mexican featherweight is a dangerous opponent and has also never been stopped himself with all five losses coming by decision.
Sean Woodson: The Sniper seeking to make it four wins in a row
Sean Woodson (12-1-1) returns to action for what will be his third fight in 2024. After a split decision victory over Charles Jourdain in January, Woodson picked up a unanimous decision when over Alex Caceres in May. The man nicknamed The Sniper has seen nine of his 14 MMA bouts go the distance and he will look to use his high output against Padilla to outwork and outlast the Mexican.
Fernando Padilla vs Sean Woodson Prediction
This is a really competitive fight in the UFC's featherweight division as Fernando Padilla meets Sean Woodson.
Padilla has only had three fights in the UFC and it will be interesting to see as and when he finds his level.
Woodson’s record could look very different had a couple of decisions gone the other way. His draw with Luis Saldana can after his opponent was deducted a point while many thought the decisions in the Alex Caceres and Charles Jourdain fights should have gone the other way.
Nevertheless, Woodson is riding an impressive streak right now and his confidence will be high coming into this fight. The concern over Woodson is that is struggling to find stoppages in his bouts. Eight of his 12 victories have come by decision.
On the contrary, Padilla has managed 14 stoppages in his 16 wins and he is an extremely dangerous fighter. He looks to have more varied routes to victory than Woodson does and for that reason, we marginally prefer the Mexican fighter.
Prediction: Fernando Padilla to win
