Fenerbahce vs Athletic Bilbao Prediction

Jose Mourinho’s Fenerbahce are coming off a 0-1 loss to Besiktas so they will be desperate to bounce back after their run of five wins came to an abrupt end. They still sit second in the Turkish Super Lig but are six points behind Galatasaray.

Their Europa League campaign has been pretty underwhelming so far with two wins, two draws and a defeat. They beat Slavia 2-1 in Prague last time out which was much-needed and they now have tough back-to-back home matches against Athletic and Lyon.

The Basque club are absolutely flying themselves right now as they have won their last five matches and are unbeaten in 11 in all competitions. They have 13 points from their five Europa League matches so far and sit level at the top with Lazio and Eintracht Frankfurt so they are in an extremely strong position coming to Istanbul.

They have taken 25 players on the trip with them and Ernesto Valverde has confirmed he will make rotations for this one. They are only without Ander Herrera so they have a strong squad at their disposal even if they do rotate.

This could very well be one of those matches that sees both teams show respect to each other and not over develop into a particularly open match. The emphasis will certainly be with the home side to take the initiative but we can just see this one petering out and not containing many goals at all. Consider under 2.5 goals in this one but it is worth checking the confirmed line-ups regardless.
