FPL Gameweek 8 – head-to-head comparisons: Ricardo Pereira vs Trent Alexander-Arnold

Ricardo Pereira (£6.1m) moved to the top of the defenders’ chart in Gameweek 7 thanks to his goal and clean sheet against Newcastle. His 13-point haul takes him to an impressive 39 points for the season to date and while he has reasonable chances for clean sheets in this strong Leicester team, that goal was the second consecutive match he had scored in from right-back. This week sees Leicester make the trip to leaders Liverpool and that will be the toughest test of this Leicester defence’s credentials which does harm Pereira’s chances of another decent haul.

Lining up against him this week will be Trent Alexander-Arnold (£7.2m), who will understandably be fuming that this fellow right-back has leapfrogged him as top dog in the FPL world. TAA sits just two points behind Pereira on 37 points and he will fully expect to regain top spot in Gameweek 8. This is a tough fixture on paper for the league leaders and ex-boss Brendan Rodgers will be keen to get one over them here. However, TAA has the greater chance of an attacking return and a clean sheet in this fixture compared to Ricardo Pereira, and the Liverpool man has to be favoured here.
