FPL Gameweek 17 – head-to-head comparisons: Mo Salah vs Sadio Mane
Gameweek 16 was one to forget for both Mo Salah (£12.6m) and Sadio Mane (£11.9m) as the two failed to register an attacking return, picking up three FPL points each as Liverpool could only draw 0-0 away at a resilient Newcastle. Salah in particular disappointed, missing a golden chance due to a wonder save by Magpies keeper Karl Darlow, frustrating the many FPL managers who captained (or vice captained) the Egyptian.
Both will hope for significantly better in Gameweek 17, which see the reigning Premier League champions on the road again this time to Southampton. Both Salah and Mane are unlikely to be afforded a rest with the Reds having drawn their last two league games. Whilst Salah is the more expensive, he has outperformed Mane this season with 123 FPL points compared to the Senegalese star's 81 points. Not only does Salah take penalties but his away form, which has seen him record seven league goals and two assists on the road so far this season leads us to choose the Egyptian in this head-to-head.
Verdict: Mo Salah
