FPL Gameweek 12 – head-to-head comparisons: Marcus Rashford vs Raheem Sterling
Marcus Rashford (£9.4m) shocked sellers as he overcame a shoulder injury sustained in United's defeat to PSG to help United overcome a rigid West Ham defence. He scored the final goal in the comeback and had numerous chances throughout that indicated the threat an in-form Rashford has for any side. Raheem Sterling (£11.4m) rewarded faithful owners with an overdue 13 point haul against a Fulham side that consistently failed to deal with the blistering pace of the wide-man.
Marcus Rashford endured a tough night in Germany during the week as United were eliminated by a well-organised Leipzig side. Rashford looked indecisive throughout consistently over-dribbling and demonstrating the lack of composure that is consistently alluded to in the frequent 'left-winger vs striker' debate when discussing the accomplished 23 year-old.
While this lack of composure has also clouded Sterling's incredible statistics over the last 3 years, he plays in a side where creativity is rarely an issue. Where Rashford may get two chances a game to score, Sterling often gets five with the creative prowess's of KDB, Mahrez and Bernardo Silva far in excess of United's corresponding positions.
Despite registering relatively impressive statistics over the course of this season, Rashford is a sporadic player, producing one haul for every five measly performances. While he has often outperformed Sterling in recent derbies, back Sterling to prolong Wan-Bissaka's string of nightmare performances this weekend.
Verdict: Raheem Sterling
