FPL Gameweek 18 – head-to-head comparisons: Kieran Tierney vs Joao Cancelo
Kieran Tierney (£5.4m) has been threatening a performance like his 18-point haul last time out against West Brom for some time in an Arsenal team that looks to be finding its feet again. The left-back grabbed a goal, assist, clean sheet and three bonus points to end up the highest-scoring player of Gameweek 17 and his ownership has rocketed up to almost 10% at the time of writing as a result. Joao Cancelo (£5.7m) was close to a clean sheet of his own in Man City’s excellent win over Chelsea but a last-minute goal for the Blues snuffed that out.
Four points separates Tierney (59) and Cancelo (55) but whilst the Scottish international enjoyed an explosive return last week, Cancelo is certainly the better long-term prospect having accrued his points in five games fewer. What is more, Arsenal will host Crystal Palace this gameweek, a team that has caused them plenty of trouble over the last few seasons whilst Man City host a struggling Brighton & Hove Albion. The imminent double gameweek for Cancelo is especially tempting but he gets our Gameweek 18 pick here just the same.
