FPL Gameweek 18 – head-to-head comparisons: Kevin De Bruyne vs Bruno Fernandes
Kevin De Bruyne (£11.7m) put in his best performance of the season against his old club Chelsea in a 3-1 victory for Manchester City in which he also bagged a lucky clean sheet point having been taken off moments before the consolation goal. He faces a porous Brighton side as they travel to Manchester, a city they have not found too welcoming in recent years and the Belgian playmaker looks set to be rested in the FA Cup to give him the recovery needed for another good performance. His contemporary on the other side of Manchester, Bruno Fernandes (£11.3m) continues perform at the very highest level as he almost single-handedly pulls his United team into contention for the title. Fernandes scored his 11th goal of the season last time out and is just two point behind Heung-Min Son as the overall highest-scoring player.
It is take your pick territory here between two excellent captaincy options for Gameweek 18. United might find it tough to break down Burnley on the road but Fernandes is exactly the kind of player needed to open those particularly tight-shut doors at Turf Moor. However, given that Brighton are away from home with one of the worst goals-against totals in the table, De Bruyne just shades this H2H.
Verdict: Kevin De Bruyne
