Both Ruben Dias (£6.1m) and Joao Cancelo (£6.1m) were instrumental in a midweek Champions League win over Borussia Monchengladbach to back-up a comfortable 0-1 victory at Arsenal last Sunday in the Premier League. Both Portuguese players are first-team choices for Pep Guardiola in his ideal City line-up and with two home fixtures against West Ham and Wolves in this double gameweek 26 there is plenty of scope for big points from either of them.

The age-old problem is the likelihood for rotation, with even Ruben Dias being rested recently against Spurs in City’s previous DGW24. Since nailing his place in the team down from Gameweek 5, Cancelo has been rested three times against Crystal Palace (where he came on as a sub), Sheffield United and Burnley. Considering these are the more winnable fixtures for City it could suggest he will definitely start the West Ham fixture with some scope for a bench spot against Wolves. Dias was rested more recently and therefore it is likely he will retain his place in both fixtures as Pep’s trusted centre-back. The answer to this question is both, if you can afford it, but on the face of it Dias is likelier to start both games than Cancelo.

Verdict: Ruben Dias
