Fabio Fognini vs Laslo Djere prediction
Laslo Djere’s solid form on clay has seen him rise back into the top 100 in 2025.
The Serb reached the last four in Buenos Aires and won the title in Santiago while his appearance in Barcelona was only ended by Carlos Alcaraz.
The 29-year-old has a 9-3 record so far this season and will fancy his chances of seeing off 37-year-old Fognini.
The Italian continues on the comeback trail following an injury that ruled him out for two months and he has yet to win in the main draw of any top-tier tournament this year.
The former world nine did win back-to-back matches for the first time during qualifying here, including an excellent 6-4 5-7 7-5 win over Rinky Hijikata, and it may give him a significant boost in confidence.
This will be Fognini’s fifth encounter with Djere with the head-to-head locked at 2-2, although the Serb leads 2-1 on the dirt.
Fognini hasn’t quite found the level needed to produce some of his magic of old on a consistent basis and the smart money is on world number 71 Djere to prevail.
