Fabio Fognini vs Francisco Cerundolo prediction

Fabio Fognini has struggled for any kind of momentum this season and hasn’t got his clay court campaign going either. He lost in the first round of a Challenger event in Napoli and then repeated the feat at the Grand Prix Hassan II in Morocco. 

The Italian, who won this event in 2019, performed the best tennis of his career on the red clay but those days seem to be far behind the 37-year-old, who is now ranked 99 in the world.

Francisco Cerundolo reached the final and semi-final of the Argentina and Chile Opens during the South American clay court season, while he backed that up on the hard with two quarter-final appearances at the Sunshine Double events, losing to Carlos Alcaraz and then a close three-set match with Grigor Dimitrov after taking the first set.

Cerundolo has enjoyed a really encouraging season so far and we can’t see anything other than a convincing win against Fognini to get his Monte-Carlo campaign up and running.
