Exeter vs Oxford Prediction

Exeter City head into the FA Cup third round with a real chance of pushing further into the cup and earning themselves some decent prize money as they welcome Championship strugglers, albeit much-improved, Oxford United to St James Park this weekend.

The Grecians come into this one sitting firmly in the middle-of-the-table in League One after a very frustrating start to the year. In successive matches, Exeter suffered second-half stoppage-time defeats to Wycombe Wanderers and then Bolton Wanderers last week with Aaron Morley scoring the late winning goal in both of those games.

Following the surprise and heavily criticised sacking of Des Buckingham last month, Oxford appointed the experienced Gary Rowett and he has got the U’s pushing away from the bottom three and the relegation places. Their most recent outing saw them share a 1-1 draw with Preston North End at Deepdale to mean they are unbeaten in their last four matches.

Oxford have improved but may not have their full focus on this game with survival the aim and Exeter, with their home advantage, will fancy their chances of a mini upset.
