The 2024 French Open runner-up Jasmine Paolini kicks off her clay swing against home favourite Eva Lys.

The fifth seed arrives on the back of a run to the semi-finals in Miami where she was ousted by Aryna Sabalenka.

Wildcard Lys offers a tricky opener as the 23-year-old will not only have the home support, but she is also at a career high of 68 in the world.

Paolini came out on top in their first and only meeting so far as the Italian prevailed 6-2 7-5 in Dubai back in February.

It’s a tussle of two diminutive baseliners so you can expect some engaging rallies, but Paolini’s trademark punch off the forehand may well be decisive.
