Ernesta Kareckaitė: Heavy-handed Lithuanian aiming to bounce back from debut loss
Ernesta Kareckaitė (5-1-1) is coming off a decision defeat on her UFC debut so the Lithuanian flyweight will be desperate to bounce back. She had earned her spot in the UFC via Dana White’s Contender Series but it will be interesting to see if she can raise her performance in the big time. Prior to that loss, she had won her three previous three fights albeit by split decisions. Her record may flatter her a little bit so a win in the Octagon here will go a long way to establishing herself in the promotion.
Nicolle Caliari: Brazilian aiming to make it five wins in a row
Nicolle Caliari (8-2) comes into UFC Fight Night 249 full of confidence as the 28-year-old Brazilian has won her last four fights. Like Kareckaite, Caliari came through Dana White’s Contender Series and now she makes her UFC debut. She has good momentum behind her with those wins and just as importantly, she has shown to be a dangerous opponent having seen all eight of her wins come via stoppage. She has five knockouts and three submissions on her record and she will be looking to continue that here.
Ernesta Kareckaitė vs Nicolle Caliari Prediction
Both Ernesta Kareckaitė and Nicolle Caliari have come through Dana White’s Contender Series and it will be interesting to see who impresses here and who can get their first win in the Octagon.
Kareckaite is known for her heavy hands but it is over five years ago since her last knockout and her last five fights have gone to the scorecards.
Caliari appears to be much more dangerous with her eight wins and coming by stoppage; and varied methods of stoppages at that.
We like the Brazilian’s chances coming into this bout and she has by far the most routes to victory in this fight.
Prediction: Nicolle Caliari to win by stoppage
