Equatorial Guinea vs Algeria Prediction

Equatorial Guinea have had to deal with some off-field issues in the last 12 months as they try to emulate their impressive showing at the 2023 CAF Africa Cup of Nations earlier this year, whilst Algeria need to finally assert themselves back on a major international stage.

Equatorial Guinea reached the quarter-finals of the 2021 AFCON in 2022 and then the Round of 16 of the 2023 tournament in January. They also look likely to qualify for 2025 despite losing former Middlesbrough man and key captain Emilio Nsue when FIFA banned him as a result of it being discovered he had always actually been ineligible to play for the country.

In the last half a decade or so, Algeria have enjoyed a couple of remarkable runs of form to assert themselves as almost dominant in African football but the north Africans have flopped at a couple of AFCONs and also failed to qualify for the 2022 FIFA World Cup but they have been much-improved since the appointment of former Switzerland boss Vladimir Petkovic.

Algeria have a stacked squad full of genuine quality that has won four from four qualifiers under Petkovic and it remains the safest bet to side with the Algerians for this one.
