Emma Raducanu vs Iga Swiatek Prediction

Emma Raducanu may well see this tournament as her best chance to overcome Polish star Iga Swiatek for the first time in her career. Their past three encounters have seen Swiatek emerge victorious, but there’s always the potential of a surprise exit at the Australian Open with Swiatek having been beaten in the third round at this stage last year.

Raducanu continues to struggle through a back injury but her fighting spirit and immensely powerful groundstrokes are extremely well suited to the hard courts of Melbourne and she’s yet to drop a set so far, powering past both Ekaterina Alexandrova and Amanda Anisimov. The Brit performs best when there’s no pressure on her shoulders and although serve control has been a cause for concern, Raducanu has made up for it in other areas.

This is such an intriguing clash and anyone wouldn’t be forgiven for thinking that an upset could be on the cards. Swiatek’s relentless quality combined with Raducanu’s fitness concerns makes the former a clear favourite. But it would be no surprise if Raducanu forced a third set here and this should be backed.

Emma Raducanu vs Iga Swiatek Tip: Over 2.5 sets
