Winner of the WTA Most Improved Player of the Year award last year, Emma Navarro began 2024 by winning the Hobart International – her first WTA title – before reaching breaking new ground at each of the Grand Slam events (Australian Open third round, French Open fourth round, Wimbledon quarter-final and US Open semi-final).
An all-American clash in a major is nothing new to eighth-seed Navarro, who eliminated Coco Gauff at both Wimbledon and the US Open last year. However, her form in the latter half of 2024 tailed off and she wasn’t particularly convincing in either Brisbane or Adelaide recently.
