Elise Mertens meanwhile, didn’t have to exert too much energy after sweeping Clara Tauson 6-0 in the opening set of their last 64 contest before the latter retired through illness. Mertens was deadly accurate with a 77% success rate completing her first serve and cool under pressure, winning every point on her second serve.
