Elina Avanesyan vs Caroline Dolehide prediction
Elina Avanesyan is playing her first clay court event of the year after last participating in Miami. She lost to Madison Keys in the second-round. Her best finish so far this season is a semi-final appearance at the Merida Open, where she won three matches in a row before losing to top seed Emma Navarro.
Avanesyan had a quiet clay court season last year before making a second successive fourth round appearance at Roland Garros and then reaching a final in Iagi in late July so she has already shown how dangerous she can be on the surface.
Caroline Dolehide is her opponent in the first-round, who played in Charleston but lost in the second-round to Madison Keys. The head-to-head is 2-1 in Avanesyan’s favour, though Dolehide did win their only match on clay in qualifying for the French Open in 2022.
The Armenian has won the last two matches between the pair and we’re backing her to get through in three sets.
Elina Avanesyan vs Caroline Dolehide tip: Elina Avanesyan to win 2-1
