Ekaterina Alexandrova vs Jessica Pegula prediction

Jessica Pegula will battle Ekaterina Alexandrova for the second time in a matter of weeks with a place in the last four on the line.

The American edged the world number 22 by a 6-2 2-6 7-5 scoreline in the semi-final on her way to the Charleston title a fortnight ago. 

That match could have gone either way and remains the Russian’s only loss in her last six matches. 

Alexandrova took down one of the year’s form players in Mirra Andreeva in the previous round and has yet to drop a set in Stuttgart. The 30-year-old will have to repeat the act and then some against the third seed as Pegula romped to a 6-1 6-1 victory over Magdalena Frech to make it 11 wins in her last 12 matches. 

This will be their fifth meeting and it’s finely poised at 2-2. It’s likely to be tight again but Pegula has won their two encounters on clay and the American’s imperious run of late should help her come out on top in the key moments.
