Eintracht Frankfurt Preview: Fluttering Frankfurt

Coached by Dino Toppmoller, Eintracht Frankfurt have enjoyed a strong start to the 2024/25 Bundesliga campaign inspired by the excellent form of Egypt international striker Omar Marmoush. They sit comfortably tucked inside the top four ahead of this weekend.

Frankfurt are the second top scorers in the league, only behind league leaders Bayern Munich, but they do come into this one on the back of a 2-1 loss to RB Leipzig at the Red Bull Arena last weekend with goals from Benjamin Sesko and Lois Openda for the hosts.

Mainz Preview: The Bayern slayers

Last weekend, Mainz pulled off a famous result as they defeated Bayern Munich by two goals to one with an impressive performance at the MEWA ARENA last weekend in their most recent outing thanks to a brace from South Korea international Lee Jae-sung.

The visitors have moved themselves into the top seven and the UEFA competition qualification spots ahead of the 15th match day of the campaign. They have won four of their last five matches in the Bundesliga and lost just one of their last seven.

Eintracht Frankfurt Team News: Couple of issues

As mentioned, Frankfurt’s game plan will be to once again go through the excellent Marmoush in attack. They do have a couple of key injury doubts as centre-back Tuta is a potential absentee alongside Eric Junior Dina Ebimbe.

Predicted XI (3-4-2-1): Trapp; Kristensen, Koch, Theate; Knauff, Larsson, Dahoud, Brown; Uzun, Ekitike; Marmoush

Unavailable: Amenda (Injured), Wenig (Injured), Loune (Injured)

Questionable: Tuta (Injured), Dina Ebimbe (Illness)

Mainz Team News: No Burkardt

The excellent and in-form Jonathan Burkardt is unavailable for Mainz ahead of their trip to Frankfurt due to a thigh injury. He is sidelined alongside forward Gabriel Vidovic, whilst both Paul Nebel and Danny da Costa are injury doubts, too.

Predicted XI (3-4-2-1): Zentner; Jenz, Bell, Kohr; Caci, Sano, Amiri, Mwene; Onisiwo, Lee; Sieb

Unavailable: Burkardt (Injured), Vidovic (Injured)

Questionable: Nebel (Injured), Da Costa (Injured)

Eintracht Frankfurt vs Mainz Prediction

As mentioned, Frankfurt have been entertaining to watch so far this season and their 14 Bundesliga matches have consisted of 54 goals thus far. They have endured a little bit of a wobble but are expected to get themselves back on track soon. This could well be the game to do it because, despite their famous win against Bayern last weekend, Mainz are dealing with a couple of crucial fresh injury concerns and Frankfurt, with home advantage, may well be a good value bet for what could also be a high-scoring affair.
