Dimitri van den Bergh vs Dylan Slevin Prediction
Dmitri van den Bergh has a strange old record at Ally Pally as he has enjoyed runs to the semi-finals like 2023 and then been eliminated in the second round like 2022 and 2024. The ever-popular Belgian will be hoping to avoid an early exit but it all depends how quickly he settles into the match.
He has had a solid year and won the UK Open by beating Luke Humphries in the final in a deciding leg. That should give him plenty of confidence but he does need to get through a couple of rounds to build some momentum.
He meets 22-year-old Irish talent Dylan Slevin who won the all-Ireland first-round clash with Willie O’Connor on Friday night. That was an incredibly tough match and one he will have been delighted to have come through for national bragging rights. Slevin now faces a tough test against Van den Bergh as he looks to pick up just his second win at Ally Pally.
Van den Bergh should be capable of hitting the ground running here and bringing an end to Slevin’s fairytale campaign at Ally Pally. It would be a major shock if the Belgian was beaten here and we fancy him to do that even though Slevin is more than capable of taking at least a set here.
