Diana Shnaider easily defeated Katie Volynets 6-1 6-2 without dropping her serve to make it through to the next round. The Russian was barely troubled during the match and now increases her head-to-head record to 2-0 over the American.

Anastasija Sevastova will be her next opponent as she produced one of the surprises of the round by defeating compatriot and recent Stuttgart Open champion Jelena Ostapenko in straight sets. This was by far the best result for the Latvian since her return to the tour after missing the majority of last season due to injury. She went a break down in the second but ran off with the final six service games to win 7-6 6-2.

Most of Shnaider’s game seemed to be in order during her last match and it will be a tough ask for the 35-year-old to take down another seeded player after the performance she put in to defeat Ostapenko. We lean towards Shnaider winning in straight sets and advancing to the fourth round.
