DERRICK LEWIS: KNOCKOUT KING LOOKING TO EXTEND RECORD FOR KO WINS

Derrick Lewis (28-12 with one no contest) returns to the Octagon six months after yet another knockout win, this time over Rodrigo Nascimento in May. The UFC’s knockout king is never far from a KO and even when he suffers a setback and loses a fight or two, the veteran just responds with another knockout when he needs it the most. He will be looking to extend his record of 15 knockouts with another here and he continues to demonstrate why he is one of the most popular fighters in the organisation.

JHONATA DINIZ: BRAZILIAN KICKBOXING PUTS 100% WIN RECORD ON THE LINE

Jhonata Diniz (8-0) has enjoyed a fantastic start to life in the UFC after transitioning from his kickboxing. He came through Dana White’s Contender Series last September and has gone on to win both of his bouts in the UFC. He has won seven of his eight bouts by knockout and has impressed the UFC’s top brass sufficiently to fast track him here to face a storied veteran like Derrick Lewis.

DERRICK LEWIS VS JHONATA DINIZ PREDICTION

We have a blockbuster on the UFC Fight Night 246 card and this heavyweight fight could very well upstage the two co-main events in terms of entertainment.

Derrick Lewis is as entertaining as ever and there will be no surprises as to how he will approach this fight as he will look to knock Diniz out right from the off.

The likelihood is that Diniz will do exactly the same himself and he will know that he will have to nail his movement to ensure that he gets to Lewis before he gets him.

This really is one of those bouts that could go either way depending on who connects flush first. We like Lewis as he is the tried and trusted at the very top level but there is a sneaking suspicion that Diniz could be the real deal.

Bet on the fight not to go the distance and add this one safely to your accumulator.

PREDICTION: FIGHT NOT TO GO THE DISTANCE
