Denis Shapovalov vs Tomas Machac Prediction

Canadian star Denis Shapovalov comes into this quarter-final full of confidence after he eliminated the top seed Taylor Fritz in the round of 16.

Despite losing the first set, Shapovalov came back to win the second and third despite being outplayed for spells of the match. Fritz generated nine break points compared to Shapovalov’s two but the Canadian just edged matters in the key moments.

He now faces another tough opponent in Tomas Machac. The 24-year-old Czech has beaten Kei Nishikori and Rinky Hijikata in straight sets to reach the quarters but this will arguably be his toughest test to date.

The pair have never met before and it will be interesting to see how they measure up. The left-handed Shapovalov is not an easy player to face for the first time and while he is the marginal underdog, we like the value he offers.
