Denis Shapovalov vs Casper Ruud Prediction
What a week it has been for Denis Shapovalov and he has comfortably had the hardest journey to reach the final. In the round of 16, he came up against top seed Taylor Fritz and he came through a tight three-setter and then he beat sixth-seed Tomas Machac in straight sets. In the semi-finals, he met defending champion and third-seed Tommy Paul and he produced the goods once again winning 7-5 6-3 so his game is in a really place right now.
This is Shapovalov’s eighth ATP Tour final and he has won two and lost five of the previous seven. He did win his last which came in November last year in Belgrade and he can be confident with that one signalling a significant improvement in his form.
He has met Casper Ruud once before in a final and that came back in May 2021 when the Norwegian edged a tight match in the Geneva Open final.
Ruud has won both of their previous meetings but it should be noted that they took place in 2021 and 2022, and both match were incredibly close.
Ruud has had the easier route to the final as he has not faced a single seeded player the entire way. He beat in-form Spaniard Jaume Munar in three sets in their semi-final on Saturday but he can certainly expect an even tougher test here.
We like Shapovalov and the way he is playing this week. He has been the standout player all week and assuming the occasion does not get to him, we like his chances of getting the win.
