David Goffin vs Lorenzo Sonego Prediction

David Goffin returns to Indian Wells but since reaching the semi-final back in 2016, he has not enjoyed much success in the ATP 1000 event since then.

The veteran Belgian comes off a couple of good wins in Mexico that saw him reach the quarter-final before being eliminated by Brandon Nakashima. One of those came against Ben Shelton and that will have given him a huge boost in confidence.

He meets Italy’s Lorenzo Sonego in the first round it promises to be a really intriguing encounter. The 29-year-old had a superb run in the Australian Open as he got through to the quarters but his form has been a little quiet since then.

So much depends on what version of Sonego turns up for this match. If he is on his game, then he should have the style to beat Goffin but recent form has not been great.

Our sense is that if one player takes control of this one early, they will likely go on and win comfortably so we do not expect a long drawn-out match.
