Ross Smith and Dirk van Duijvenbode endured similar second-round matches with both coming from a set down to defeat their respective opponents 3-2. This is uncharted territory for Smith but it is no surprise he has reached this stage given that he’s had a very positive seaspm and if Van Duijvenbode is as inefficient on the doubles as he was against Boris Koltsov last time out then the Englishman could well advance here. You would expect Van Duijvenbode to improve in that department though and this does promise to be a competitive contest so backing over 4.5 sets looks a good play.
