Danny Lauby returns to the Alexandra Palace stage after narrowly losing in the first round to Ryan Searle last year and now takes on the consistent Irishman William O’Connor. It was through topping the CDC USA Tour rankings that Lauby earned his place in the tournament and the American certainly has the talent to cause an upset here, especially as his opponent has failed to make much of a dent on tour this year. O’Connor often raises his game for the big stage though and appears to revel in the atmosphere of televised events, so he should be favoured here for a hard-fought victory.
