- Williams has reached at least the quarter-finals in each of the last two years at the BDO World Championship and this is his fifth consecutive appearance in the last 16.
RYAN HOGARTH
- Ryan Hogarth made it through to the last 16 for the first time at the BDO World Championship with a 3-1 win against Thibault Tricole late on Tuesday night.
- Hogarth was in the end a very relieved man as he avoided going into the final set by coming from 2-1 down to win the fourth set after the Frenchman had rallied from losing the opening two sets.
- The Scotsman’s average of 80.36 against Tricole was lower than the 81.18 he recorded in his prelim round defeat at the 2019 World Championship.
THE PREDICTION
Jim Williams was pushed all the way in his match against Stone and having overcome the opening round nerves, he is likely to be a lot more settled over this longer format. Hogarth has beaten Williams before, and may take confidence from that, but this is a whole new level and the quality of Williams should shine through in a 4-2 victory for the Welshman.
