THE PREDICTION

Ryan Searle has enjoyed a landmark year on the PDC circuit as he claimed his first ranking title in July and he will be hoping to round off the season with another good showing at the World Championship. Searle has reached at least the third round in each of the last two years, so he will certainly feel comfortable at Alexandra Palace, and an opening round match against a World Championship debutant presents him with a good opportunity to move through to a round two meeting with Jeffrey de Zwaan. Young American Lauby has done well to qualify for the PDC World Championship, and in doing so he has followed in his father’s footsteps, but his first trip to Ally Pally is likely to end with a first round defeat.
