Daria Kasatkina vs Sofia Kenin prediction

Daria Kasatkina marked her first match since switching her allegiance from Russia to Australia with a fine 6-1 6-1 victory over Lauren Davis. The result was never in doubt, with Kasatkina racing to a 5-0 lead in the first set and winning an impressive 80% of points on her second serve.

She enjoys this event, having won as a teenager in 2017 and reached the final last year, and should rightfully be seen as one of the favourites for the tournament.

Her next opponent is the unpredictable Sofia Kenin, who thrashed 17th seed Belinda Bencic 6-0 6-3 despite the Swiss having a strong recent record in Charleston.

The head-to-head is 3-3 overall, but they have never played on clay before and Kasatkina has won three of the last four matches, including their most recent encounter at Indian Wells, which saw the Australian come from a set down to win.

Kenin has enjoyed a fine run already and could prove to be a difficult opponent for Kasatkina, but the number five seed has enough variety in her game to defeat the American and advance through.
