Daria Kasatkina vs Liudmila Samsonova Prediction

Daria Kasatkina battled from a set down against Sofia Kenin over the weekend to reach the third round at the Indian Wells Open for the fifth year in succession, displaying some impressive resolve throughout that triumph.

A finalist at this tournament back in 2018, Kasatkina has had some mixed results this year but remains just outside the top ten of the WTA rankings.

Liudmila Samsonova, meanwhile, has not enjoyed a strong run at a WTA event since reaching the semi-finals of the Adelaide International in January, where she retired in the deciding set of her contest with eventual champion Madison Keys.

This is the first WTA meeting between the two Russian compatriots and it looks fairly evenly-matched on paper. Given the nature of her performance in the second round though, we’re edging Kasatkina in this one.
