Daniil Medvedev vs Karen Khachanov prediction

It’s fair to say the clay swing is not Daniil Medvedev’s favourite time of year. 

The Russian has made no secret of his dislike of the surface, although he did win the Rome Masters two years ago and has also been a quarter-finalist in Madrid and Monte Carlo. 

The former US Open champion is battling to stay in and around the world’s top ten, so he’ll feel he was unlucky to get such a tough opener on the dirt. 

Medvedev leads the head-to-head with Khachanov 6-2 but their only encounter on clay was here at the MCC last year where Karen triumphed 6-3 7-5. 

The surface may well see the pendulum swing more towards Khachanov, but his form of only three wins in his last nine means he’s not an obvious pick.
