Daniil Medvedev vs Alex de Minaur prediction

Alex de Minaur surged back from a set down to demolish Jiri Lehecka and kick off his clay swing with a victory.

The Aussie, who reached the last eight in The Principality last year, was ruthless in the big moments as he converted four of his five break points to prevail 3-6 6-0 6-3.

The number eight seed also saved four of the break points against his serve as Lehecka’s 40 unforced errors proved costly.

De Minaur will face a familiar foe in Daniil Medvedev after the Russian edged out Alexandre Muller 7-6 5-7 6-2 to set up an 11th tour-level meeting with the Aussie nicknamed Demon. 

Medvedev owns the head-to-head 7-3 but lost their only clash on clay in four sets at Roland-Garros last year. 

Neither player is particularly at their best when on the dirt, but if De Minaur can stay patient, his speed about the court may well trouble the former US Open champion, who physically struggled with cramp in the first of two epic matches so far here.
