Daniil Medvedev vs Alex de Minaur Prediction

Daniil Medvedev comes into this crunch clash with Alex de Minaur knowing nothing but a win will be good enough to keep his hopes alive in Turin this week. He lost his opening match 6-4 6-3 to Taylor Fritz and he now needs to beat Alex de Minaur.

The 25-year-old Australian De Minaur had another almost identical loss to Jannik Sinner on Saturday in his opener and he will be eager to bounce back here. He has some form to count on however in recent weeks and that should stand him well coming into this match assuming he is motivated.

It is Medvedev who leads the head-to-head 6-3 overall but the Australian won their only meeting in 2024. That came at Roland Garros as he won 4-6 6-2 6-1 6-3 to eliminate the Russian.

There are a few factors as to why we like De Minaur in this one. He knows he has already played Sinner unlike Medvedev who knows he meets him next so qualification to the semis is far harder for the Russian. De Minaur has the confidence of having beaten Medvedev once already this year and he also has the better form leading into this tournament. For those reasons, we edge De Minaur in this one.
