Danielle Collins vs Hailey Baptiste Prediction

World number 14 Danielle Collins contests her first tournament since her run to the third round of the Australian Open, where she lost to compatriot and eventual champion Madison Keys.

Collins hardly endeared herself to the Melbourne crowd during that run with some of her post-match antics and comments, but she returns to home turf here in a tournament where she has never experienced a great deal of success.

Fellow American Hailey Baptiste began 2025 with an excellent run to the quarter-finals of the ASB Classic, but her first-round win over Whitney Osuigwe was only her second victory in the main draw of a WTA event since then. Currently ranked 100, Baptiste is a clear underdog in this one.

The only doubt surrounding Collins is her inactivity since the Australian Open, so don’t be surprised if Baptiste wins a set, as she did in their only previous meeting (Brisbane in January 2024).
