Daniel Elahi Galan vs Casper Ruud prediction

Colombian Daniel Elahi Galan successfully navigated qualifying to reach the main draw, beating Jacob Fearnley in the last round. He is a clay-court specialist and won his first Challenger event since April 2022 in January, with victory at the Punta del Este Open.

He then picked up another title on the Challenger tour with victory in Chile, defeating Thiago Monteiro in the final in the middle of March. He opted to avoid the North American hard-court swing and continue to play clay court events. 

He did enter the Houston Open but fell at the first hurdle to Mackenzie McDonald. His opponent will be defending champion Casper Ruud. Ruud suffered a shock defeat to Alexei Popyrin at the round-of-16 stage in Monte-Carlo and can’t really afford a similar upset with the amount of points he has to defend here.

We think Ruud will begin the defence of his title with a straight sets win.
