Daniel Altmaier vs Otto Virtanen prediction
Daniel Altmaiar will be aiming to bounce back from his surprise first-round defeat to wildcard Coleman Wong last time out in Miami.
The German’s best performances so far this season have come via quarter-final runs in Rotterdam and Marseille. In the latter, the 26-year-old defeated Virtanen 6-4 6-3 in their only previous meeting to-date.
Altmaier has form on a clay court, featuring in nine and winning six Challenger finals since 2021, meaning he will be a big favourite to progress against the Finnish world number 133, who favours hard courts.
Indeed, Virtanen has fallen out of the world’s top 100 this year as he has struggled for consistency with his only match on clay leading to a defeat to Lukas Neumayer in a Davis Cup tie between Finland and Austria.
Virtanen, 23, has lost five of his last six matches and given this current form, we can’t see Altmaier being troubled in this one.
Daniel Altmaier vs Otto Virtanen tip: Daniel Altmaier to win 2-0
