Daniel Altmaier vs Carlos Alcaraz prediction

Daniel Altmaier has made a brilliant run to the third round of Monte-Carlo, getting through qualifying and then beating Felix Auger-Aliassime in straight sets. He backed that up with a three-set win over Richard Gasquet, bringing the curtain down on the French veteran’s time at the event.

He now faces second seed and four-time Grand Slam champion Carlos Alcaraz for a place in the next round. Alcaraz recovered from a slow start to get his first ever win in Monte-Carlo, beating Francisco Cerundolo 3-6 6-0 6-1 in an hour and 38 minutes.

The Spaniard will get a much-needed confidence boost from the last two sets, creating plenty of opportunities for himself on the Cerundolo serve and raising his game to easily breeze through the remainder of the match. 

Alcaraz can take some time to ease himself into tournaments, which may explain the first-set blip in the previous round, but we think he’ll start strong from the off in this one and win comfortably against the much lower-ranked German.
