Da’Mon Blackshear: Da Monster seeking to follow up win last time out
Da’Mon Blackshear (15-7-1) is coming off a submission victory at UFC Fight Night 247 last time out as he picked up a first-round stoppage against Cody Stamann. That was a welcome victory after he had lost back-to-back fights prior to that including an 18-second knockout at the hands of Montel Jackson. He bounced back impressively as he has often done when suffering a setback and he will look to pick up a second successive win at UFC Fight Night 254 against Cody Gibson.
Cody Gibson: 31-fight vet looking to win third fight in a row
Cody Gibson (22-10) is in his second spell in the UFC and he comes into this fight having won two successive bouts in the Octagon for the very first time. In July, he submitted Brian Kelleher in the first round of their fight and in November, he picked up a unanimous decision win over Chad Anheliger. He comes into this fight with as much confidence as he has ever had during his two spells in the UFC and here he has a golden opportunity to make it three wins in three.
Da’Mon Blackshear vs Cody Gibson Prediction
We have a really competitive fight in the bantamweight division on the main card at UFC Fight Night 254 as two experienced fighters collide as Da’Mon Blackshear takes on Cody Gibson.
Neither man possesses huge knockout power and this fight will likely be decided either on the ground or by work rate and Octagon control.
Blackshear is the more dynamic fighter of the two and he is the man most likely to get a stoppage. We do however see a scenario where these two cancel each other out and it could easily be something of a stalemate. We prefer and expect Blackshear to win but our preference from a betting perspective is on this one to go the distance.
Prediction: Fight to go the distance
