Cub Swanson: 41-year-old star determined to defy age
Cub Swanson (29-14) returns for a second fight in 2024 and he will look to bounce back from a split decision loss against Andre Fili. Swanson has never found it a challenge to respond following a defeat and if anything, it will spur him on. The big question is when age will catch up on him and while he continues to defy the years, he has slowed up in terms of activity and it will be interesting to see how he looks in this fight.
Billy Quarantillo: New Yorker eager to upset fans’ favourite
Billy Quarantillo (18-6) comes into this bout as the younger fighter at the age of 36 and the New Yorker will relish playing the role of spoiler against the ever-popular Swanson. Quarantillo has come through The Ultimate Fighter and Dana White’s Contender Series and he has enjoyed a solid run since joining the UFC in 2019. He is coming off a submission loss at the hands of Youssef Zalal in March and he will be desperate to bounce back here.

Cub Swanson has been written off so many times but he continues to defy age, logic and the bookmakers’ odds. He will have to do the same here once again as Billy Quarantillo comes into this one as marginal favourite.
We question how much Swanson has left but this match-up against Quarantillo is a really clever one by the UFC.
Quarantillo has not fought at the level which Swanson has during his career but he is very competitive and he will fancy his chances of getting the win here.
We marginally favour Quarantillo to edge this but our preferred play is on backing this fight to go the distance. We envisage a highly entertaining bout but neither possess huge knockout power so we expect a competitive and close fight that goes to the scorecards.
