Crvena Zvezda Preview: Red Star in ruins

Crvena Zvezda have won the last seven Serbian SuperLiga titles and Vladan Milojevic’s side once again sit at the top-of-the-table domestically with an 11-point lead over Mladost Lucani thanks to 13 wins and one draw in 14 matches with two games-in-hand, too.

In the UEFA Champions League, the Serbian champions sit second-bottom with four successive defeats and they have conceded 16 goals in their four games, most recently losing by five goals to two to Barcelona earlier this month.

Stuttgart Preview: Stubborn Stuttgart

Predictably, it was always to be expected that Stuttgart would fall away this season after selling several key players over the summer after propelling themselves to being Bundesliga runners’ up last season after previously winning the relegation playoff.

Sebastian Hoeness’ side have won one of their four UEFA Champions League outings with that being a 1-0 win in Turin against Juventus. The visitors come into this one on the back of a comfortable 2-0 defeat of struggling Bochum at the weekend the other day.

Crvena Zvezda Team News: Olayinka injury

The hosts are dealing with some key issues for this week with Peter Olayinka out due to an Achilles injury. As well as Olayinka, Israel international goalkeeper Omri Glazer is one of the doubts alongside Serbia international wing-back Nemanja Radonjic.

Predicted XI (4-5-1): Ilic; Seol, Djiga, Spajic, Rodic; Silas, Krunic, Kanga, Elsnik, Maksimovic; Ndiaye

Unavailable: Olayinka (Injured)

Questionable: Glazer (Injured), Mimovic (Injured), Ivanic (Injured), Duarte (Injured), Radonjic (Injured)

Crvena Zvezda vs Stuttgart Prediction

Crvena Zvezda are reliant on any home advantage they can get from playing in front of the hostile Rajko Mitic Stadium, also known as the Marakana. They have scored goals and taken chances against both Benfica and Barcelona in Belgrade after overturning a playoff deficit in the second-leg against Bodo/Glimt. Stuttgart are a little fragile but remain quite stubborn defensively, though, and will believe they have enough to deal with and move forward.
