THE LOWDOWN

PAKISTAN WOMEN

  • Pakistan’s 70-run demolition of Ireland was the perfect way to respond after being beaten by India and keeps them well in the hunt for a place in the semi-finals.
  • Muneeba Ali stole the show with a magnificent hundred, the first century of the Women’s T20 World Cup and one which laid a platform for such a dominating victory.

WEST INDIES WOMEN

  • West Indies’ hard-fought six-wicket win over Ireland last time out gives them a chance of knockout qualification still, but they’ll need to triumph here in their final group match to have any hope of making it.
  • Hayley Matthews has been the MVP of West Indies’ T20 World Cup campaign so far and the Windies skipper top-scoring against Ireland, striking 66 not out to guide her team home.

THE PREDICTION

This could well be an extremely tense affair between two nations on the brink in terms of the competition. West Indies perhaps contain the more seasoned performers with the bat in Matthews and Stafanie Taylor. But Pakistan’s bowling attack showed their quality on Wednesday and a performance of the same ilk here will cause the Windies massive problems. The outcome could go either way, but due to that strong bowling unit, it is Pakistan whom you should consider backing to come out on top.
