THE LOWDOWN

AUSTRALIA WOMEN

  • Australia once again made light work of their opponents on Tuesday, in this case it was Bangladesh, whom they defeated by eight wickets.
  • Three wickets for Georgia Wareham set the tone, before an unbeaten 48 at just over a run-a-ball from skipper Meg Lanning saw them home with ten balls to spare.

SRI LANKA WOMEN

  • It has been a dream start to the tournament for Sri Lanka, who boast two wins from two, although this represents their toughest challenge yet by far.
  • The bowlers have really stepped up, taking 17 of a possible 20 wickets so far, combining potency with discipline and tight efficiency.

THE PREDICTION

Whilst the Sri Lankan batters have done everything required of them so far in the competition, they are yet to be really tested and haven’t yet needed to pass a score of 130 runs to win a match. That will almost certainly change here against Australia and is likely to be where they come unstuck. Australia’s bowlers should be able to restrict Sri Lanka significantly whether they are setting or chasing a target and when combined with a formidable batting unit, it’s very difficult not to see Australia being the team to keep their 100% record in this tournament intact.
