THE LOWDOWN

Hampshire sit second from bottom in the South Group with just three points from their opening four games so they are under pressure to get a win here. This is their first match at the Ageas Bowl of this season’s Blast as the venue has been tied up for international matches so they will look to take advantage of returning home. They remain without the injured Liam Dawson and George Munsey but they can welcome back skipper James Vince after the birth of his second child.

Sussex sit in third having picked up five points from their four matches and that includes a win over Hampshire at Hove where Luke Wright’s 82 led them to a six-wicket win. Their bowling attack is bolstered further by the news that England star Chris Jordan is available and comes into what is an already strong bowling unit.

THE PREDICTION

Hampshire are the team under some pressure coming into El Clasicoast as they have already lost once to Sussex and they need to get a win to move them up the South Coast standings. Both teams can count on a key player returning but Sussex’s line-up remains formidable. The balance in their team is exceptional and while Hampshire undoubtedly have matchwinners in James Vince and Shaheen Shah Afridi, Sussex have much more quality and depth which is why they have to be favoured to do the double over the coastal rivals.
