THE TEAM NEWS
OVAL INVINCIBLES WOMEN
- Oval Invincibles got themselves back to winning ways last time out, beating Birmingham Phoenix by eight wickets after successfully chasing down 130 runs to win with three balls remaining.
- Having impressed with the bat so far in the competition, South African Dane van Niekerk moved up the order to open alongside Georgia Adams, which proved an excellent decision as the two put on 90 for the opening wicket, with Van Niekerk finishing unbeaten on 67.
- This will surely see van Niekerk opening the batting with Adams once again here, with Alice Capsey coming in at number four, whilst the Invicibles face an anxious wait to find out whether all-rounder Marizanne Kapp and fast bowler Shabnim Ismail will be available.
TRENT ROCKETS WOMEN
- Trent Rockets made it three wins in a row after emerging victorious over Welsh Fire by four wickets following an impressive team performance with the ball saw them bowl the Fire out for just 102.
- Both all-rounder Sammy-Jo Johnson and Heather Graham impressed with three wickets apiece, whilst the run chase was underpinned by Nat Sciver’s 54 from 40 balls.
- The Rockets will be hoping to continue their excellent winning momentum and as such will likely stick with the same side for this one.
THE PREDICTION
This looks an important game in the context of finishing in the top three with Southern Brave and Northern Superchargers having set the early pace. Oval Invincibles though, may be missing some big players for them and against a team of Trent Rockets’ quality, this could prove crucial. The Rockets have been excellent over their past few games, having found a formula that suits both their batting and bowling. When you also take into account the excellent form of captain Sciver, alongside the experience of players such as Brunt and Johnson, then an away win does look on the cards.
