OVAL INVINCIBLES MEN FORM: TABLE TOPPERS COME INTO FINAL ON THE BACK OF DEFEAT
Oval Invincibles had already guaranteed a top three finish heading into their final group stage fixture last Wednesday, but after losing to Trent Rockets, only their second defeat of the competition so far, they had to wait for Birmingham Phoenix’s result on the following day to find out if they had secured top spot, which they did. That gave them an automatic pass through to the final.
SOUTHERN BRAVE MEN FORM: BRAVE HEIST WIN FROM JAWS OF DEFEAT TO BOOK FINAL SPOT
Southern Brave looked like they’d blown the eliminator on Saturday with opponents Birmingham Phoenix needing just three runs from the final four balls of the match to win. However, the Brave somehow managed to scramble a tie, leading to a ‘Super Five’. Jofra Archer restricted Birmingham to just seven runs from their allocated five balls, before Kieron Pollard and Chris Jordan guided Southern Brave through to the final with a ball to spare.
OVAL INVINCIBLES MEN BETTING ANALYSIS
If Oval Invincibles are to triumph at Lord’s for the second final in as many years, they’ll be looking at all-rounder Sam Curran to make a decisive impact whether that be with bat or ball. Curran has been arguably the best all-round player of the men’s Hundred in 2024 and currently boasts the joint-highest number of wickets across the tournament. His 17 scalps are matched by spin-bowler Adam Zampa and both contain the tools to lock down this Southern Brave batting line-up. Explore backing both Curran and Zampa to each accumulate 2+ wickets via the ‘Bowler Milestones’ market.
SOUTHERN BRAVE MEN BETTING ANALYSIS
In our eliminator preview, we recommended backing Southern Brave opener James Vince to score 30+ runs and to finish as his side’s top batter, both of which turned out to be winning bets. The Brave captain continues to be a hugely profitable asset from a betting perspective and it’s now exactly 400 runs for Vince across this year’s men’s Hundred. Opening the batting, his consistency is a huge factor as to why bettors should once again look to try and cash in on his scintillating form. Back Vince to recover over 22.5 match runs in the final, with an additional stake on him to once again top-score for Southern Brave.
OVAL INVINCIBLES MEN VS SOUTHERN BRAVE MEN EXPERT PREDICTION
Both these two teams will be missing a key fast bowling piece in the final. Oval Invincibles are without Spencer Johnson, whilst Craig Overton misses out for Southern Brave. However, this doesn’t change the fact that the two best bowling attacks across the competition will be going head-to-head. Only the Invincibles have played already at Lord’s this year, thrashing London Spirit and will be well aware of their surroundings, how the pitch normally plays and the relevant ground dimensions.
In a final, getting over the line is always the hardest part and it would be no surprise if this one went right down to the wire. But Oval Invincibles know how to get the better of Southern Brave, having already done so in the league stage where they never let the required victory target slip beyond them even when their batters had difficulty scoring.
When taking into account how their hitters got on top of those Brave bowlers eventually, it should bode well for them here. In what could be another thriller, back Sam Billing’s Oval Invincibles to make it back-to-back men’s Hundred titles.
