THE TEAM NEWS
LEICESTERSHIRE FOXES
- Leicestershire Foxes made it back-to-back wins and three victories from their last four games as their bowling unit did a superb job for a second successive game to skittle their opponents during the run chase.
- A 55-run success over Birmingham Bears thanks mainly to Colin Ackermann after the South African set a new T20 world record with figures of 7-18 as the off-spinner ripped through the Bears’ line-up.
- The Foxes have named an unchanged 13-man squad but Ben Mike and Chris Wright might be the unfortunate ones to miss out again as Leicestershire look to build on their recent good form.
NORTHAMPTONSHIRE STEELBACKS
- Northamptonshire Steelbacks bounced back from their loss to Derbyshire by claiming a 21-run victory over Durham to put themselves back in contention of making the quarter-finals but they must try and make it back-to-back wins here.
- The Steelbacks made 145/6 off their 20 overs but were able to defend that total as they took regular wickets with Durham running out of steam towards the end of their innings as Josh Cobb played a big role thanks to his four overs going for just 12 runs.
- The bowling unit will again be key for Nothants following a strong showing last time out with Cobb complemented by Rob Keogh who took career-best figures of 3-30 and Ben Sanderson, Faheem Ashraf and Graeme White also chipping in with wickets whilst being economical.
THE PREDICTION
Leicestershire are hitting form at a crucial period but need to keep picking up wins if they are to remain in the mix for a quarter-final spot. They host Northamptonshire here who will arrive on the back of a superb display in their last game thanks to their bowlers doing a fine job of defending a relatively modest total. The weather could scupper what should be a thrilling contest but if a result is able to be played out, the home side can edge the win.
